saraswati puja


 Saraswati DeviPrabasi warmly welcomes you to attend Saraswati Puja to be held on Feb 16th, 2013 at Centerville Middle School, Fremont. Saraswati Puja is traditionally our occasion to see our children perform. We have numerous activities and talent shows planned for children this year.

*We ask children of all ages to participate in a 10-mantra puja after the primary one. Prabasi provides all materials for that purpose to each kid. We have been doing this for the past 3 years.

Vasant Panchami also known as Saraswati Puja or Shree Panchami, is a Hindu festival. Vasant Panchami has a specific meaning, Vasant or Basant means spring, whereas Panchami means the fifth day. It falls on the fifth day of spring month i.e. Magha month as per the Hindu calender. On this day Hindus worship Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music, art and culture.
Since ancient times, there is a tradition of worshipping Goddess Saraswati on the day of Basant Panchami. There is a belief that Goddess Saraswati appeared on this day and to celebrate her birthday, her devotees perform her pooja.

Goddess Saraswati is worshipped during Navaratri on the day when there is Moola Nakshatram. Goddess Saraswati is known as the Goddess of knowledge or studies. This year Saraswati Puja will be observed on   Saturday, 5th  October 2019.
Based on the region puja of Goddess Saraswati differs. The following are the examples of Goddess Saraswati puja in different parts.
In Tamilnadu Goddess Saraswati puja is performed on the same day of Ayudha Puja.
In Andhra Pradesh the day of Moola nakshatram is observed as the day of Goddess Saraswati puja.
In Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Maha Saptami is the day of Avahana of Goddess Saraswati.
Durga Ashtami is the day of Main Puja of Goddess Saraswati.
Maha Navami is the day of Uttara Puja of Goddess Saraswati.
Vijayadasami Visarjan is the day of of Goddess Saraswati.
Ayudha Puja 2013, One of the Holiest days in India
Ayudha Pooja is generally observed on ninth day of Shukla Paksha in Ashwin month. In Kerala this festival is celebrated in the Kanni month. On the other side this pooja is in Puratasi month. Ayudha puja actually means the worship of weapon. According to the Hindu religion, after defeating over Mahishasura and other demons Chamundeswari kept her weapons aside and these weapons are worshipped. This puja is being celebrated since ancient times. This is the last day of Saraswati Puja. In some state of South India this day is also known as Shastra Puja.
On Ayudha Pooja 2012 the devotees worship all the objects, tools and books that are used for making a living and ritual purification is performed. On the Day of Ayudha Puja these tools are not touched by anyone. These objects and books can only be taken only on the next day morning after rituals and pujas. The tools one can keep in this Puja depend on his or her trade like cycle, desktop, laptop, screwdriver, autorikshaw, sewing machine machine etc. nowadays no vehicles are used by the people. In west Bengal this day is known as Astra Puja and is observed on Durga Ashtami day.
On Ayudha Pooja 2013 some people and children who are associated with literature and art will also be participated to dedicated pooja and prayers to the Goddess Saraswati. In this Pooja, people avoid to touch books and other written materials. In Ayudha puja people visit many temples to dedicate all the Hindu Goddesses. It is an important part of this puja. In many homes special poojas are performed by the elders to get the blessing of Goddess. This is the puja in which all the devotees worship the Goddess with utmost solemnity and devotion.

What Is Actually Puja:

Puja is a divine act of remembering and showing reverence to GOD or other powers related and equl to GOD trough vedic prayers and rituals. The main purpose of puja is making the direct and spritual connection with the divine power , the GOD, and its and essential part of the real hindu devotees. The Puja most often conducted for a specific purpose or for just having a peaceful life. During Puja an image or other symbol of the god serves as a means of gaining access to the divine. This icon is not the deity itself; rather, it is believed to be filled with the deity's cosmic energy. It is a focal point for honoring and communicating with the god.

Why Puja is needed:

There are several Pujas which people can do for specific events, such as the starting of a business, or the beginning of a journey. The benefit of this type of Puja is to remove obstacles. it is fact that by doing puja of the god - the divine power all the obstacles and difficulties can be remove from people's life.

Saraswati Puja :

Goddess saraswati is the goddess of intellect, wisdom, learning, Knowledege and speech Maa Saraswati has four hands representing four aspects of human personality in learning; mind, intellect, alertness and ego. Saraswati Devi is giver of education, intelligence and speech. By conducting the saraswati puja one will be blessed with success in the examinations, blessed with concentration in education. The devotee will not forget but retain and remember whatever he or she reads. It is Goddess Saraswati who grants us success in Education, research, music, singing, dancing, acting, painting,
sculpture etc.
